EE Old/New Degree Plan Transition Guidelines


New BS in Electrical Engineering Degree Plan Now in Effect

1. Who Will Follow the NEW EE Degree Plan?

You will follow the NEW EE degree plan if:

Case 1:
You do not complete/pass EE213 by the end of Term 252.

OR

Case 2:
You complete/pass EE213 by Term 252, but do not complete/pass EE311 by the end of Term 262.

Students in the new degree plan:

  1. Must take EE310 - Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering Design (1-3-2)
  2. Must take EE307 - Discrete-Time Signal Processing (3-0-3)
  3. Should NOT register in EE311
  4. Should NOT take EE213

Note: The co-requisite for EE271 has been changed from EE213 to EE201.

2. Who Will Follow the OLD EE Degree Plan?

You will remain on the OLD EE degree plan only if:

You complete/pass EE213 by the end of Term 252, AND you complete/pass EE311* by the end of Term 262.

Students who satisfy both conditions can graduate under the old degree plan.

*Notes:

  1. Students following the old degree plan should NOT register EE310. If a student on the old degree plan registers EE310, they will automatically transition to the new degree plan and take both EE310 and EE307, and the 2 credit hours of EE213 will not be counted toward the degree requirements.
  2. Also, if EE311 is not completed by the end of Term 262, the student will transition to the new degree plan and should take both EE310 and EE307, and the 2 credit hours of EE213 will not be counted toward the degree requirements.

3. Course Offering Timeline

Please carefully consider the following timeline:

EE311 - Fundamentals of EE Design (3-0-3)

  • Will be offered in Term 261 (strongly recommended to register when a seat is available)
  • Also, will be offered in Term 262 (limited seats - final offering)

EE310 - Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering Design (1-3-2)

  • Will NOT be offered in Term 261
  • Planned to be offered in Term 262 (subject to SEP requests)

EE307 - Discrete-Time Signal Processing (3-0-3)

  • Will NOT be offered in Term 261
  • Planned to be offered in Term 262 (subject to SEP requests)

5. What You Should Do Now

  1. Check which degree plan you are required to follow based on the criteria mentioned above
  2. Plan your course registration carefully according to the degree plan you will follow and the course offering timeline
  3. Consult your academic advisor before registration
  4. Carefully monitor registration announcements and seat availability
  5. Regularly check the EE website for the latest updates and act accordingly
