On September 1, 2026, the Electrical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) hosted a seminar titled “Reference Management Software,” delivered by Dr. Alaael-Din Hussein, Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department.

The seminar highlighted the importance of effective reference management in academic research and scholarly writing. Dr. Hussein introduced students to the role of reference management software in organizing research literature, managing bibliographic information, and preparing accurate citations and reference lists.

The session demonstrated practical ways in which reference management tools can support researchers throughout the research and writing process. Topics included collecting and organizing references, annotating and retrieving research papers, inserting citations while writing, and automatically generating bibliographies in different citation styles.

The seminar also discussed practical strategies for maintaining an organized research library and avoiding common reference-management problems. Participants gained useful insights into how reference management software can improve the efficiency and organization of academic research and scholarly writing.
