On February 5, 2025, the Grid Modernization Research Area hosted an engaging seminar titled Grid Modernization Research Area at the EE Department – Current Activities and Future Trends. The event featured insightful presentations by Dr. Fahad Al-Ismail, the research area coordinator, along with research area affiliates Dr. Muhammad Shaikh, Dr. Maad Al-Owaifeer, Dr. Umer Khan, Dr. Tarek Younis, and Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Qwbaiban.

The seminar showcased innovative strategies aimed at integrating sustainable energy resources into modern power grids. Key topics included the transformative role of digitalization and IoT technologies in advancing cybersecurity systems, as well as the use of data analytics to optimize grid planning, operations, and control. These cutting-edge developments are paving the way for a resilient, reliable, intelligent, and secure cyber-physical power grid, setting new benchmarks for the future of energy systems.
