On 15 January 2025, Dr. Wei Jiang delivered a seminar on a novel intrinsic spin Hall effect (ISHE) enhancement mechanism in topological semimetals with high Chern numbers. He highlighted a positive correlation between maximum Chern numbers and ISHE parameters, revealed through theoretical modeling and analysis of 260 non-magnetic semimetals.
First-principles calculations of 38 chiral topological semimetals (space group 198) identified materials with superior spin Hall conductivities and angles, surpassing platinum's performance and offering promising applications in spintronics.
Dr. Jiang, a material physics scientist at Beijing Institute of Technology, has published extensively on topological materials and spin transport. This seminar provided fresh insights into SHE and its potential for next-generation spintronic devices.
