On October 22, 2025, Dr. Saleh Komies—Focus Area Champion for Sensing and Logging Tools in the Reservoir Engineering Technology Division, EXPEC Advanced Research Center at Saudi Aramco—delivered a seminar titled “Bridging Disciplines: Innovation and Impact From Electrical Engineering to Petroleum.”

The talk presented a compelling case for electrical engineering as a force multiplier across the petroleum value chain, connecting sensing, control, power, and data systems to enhance safety, reduce costs, and lower emissions. Dr Komies demonstrated how concepts from circuits, signal processing, control theory, and power systems can be applied to produce field-ready solutions when combined with domain expertise in drilling, completions, and production. Participants left with actionable strategies to drive cross-disciplinary innovation at the interfaces where electrical and petroleum engineering meet—and deliver measurable impact.
