Microgrid Evolution: Configurations, Optimization Strategies, and Energy Trading Innovations

Microgrids have emerged as a transformative solution for enhancing energy resilience, sustainability, and efficiency in modern power systems. This presentation explores the recent advancements in microgrid configurations, optimization strategies, and innovative energy trading mechanisms such as fit-in tariffs (FIT) and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading. Key fundamental structures of microgrids, islanded and grid-connected systems configurations, and their integration with renewable energy sources will be reviewed. Next, we delve into microgrids optimization techniques and finally, we discuss the role of FIT policies in promoting renewable energy adoption and the potential of P2P energy trading in decentralizing electricity markets. This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolving microgrid landscape, its potential to drive the future of energy systems and highlight emerging research trends.
